Panama City Beach, FL – May 21, 2009 – As Mayor Gayle Oberst officially marked the grand opening of the new, 95-room Hampton Inn & Suites in Panama City Beach earlier this month, hotel general manager Peaches Crawford presented a $2,000 donation to Bay County Habitat for Humanity and also gifted new Panama City Habitat homeowners AJ and Ivy Bacon and their three children with an engraved hammer on behalf of the hotel.
Additionally, everyone in attendance signed a 2x4 plank that will be built into the family’s new front porch.
Crawford said that the donation and the hammer – engraved with “Hammer for the heart, from your Hampton Inn & Suites family” – were inspired by LBA C.A.R.E.S., the national community service initiative of Dothan, Ala.-based Larry Blumberg & Associates (LBA), which manages the hotel.
“It’s LBA’s tradition to ‘give back’ to its hotel communities as soon as we open our doors, and now that we’re open, we’re ready to greet Panama City Beach’s summer visitors,” said Crawford.
The new hotel features a splash area for children, complimentary continental breakfast and wireless service, a fitness room, business center and guest laundry. Of the 95 rooms, 28 are suites with a small refrigerator, microwave and wet bar.
The hotel is located at 13505 Panama City Beach Parkway; for more information or reservations, please call 850-230-9080.
