Long-Time Johnson City Hotelier Steven Bales To Manage City’s First Courtyard By Marriott
State-of-the-art-designed hotel to open mid-September
Johnson City, TN – June 30, 2009 – Steven Bales has been named general manager of the city’s first Courtyard by Marriott, slated to open in September at the Hamilton Place Town Center on State of Franklin Road. The 90-room hotel will be one of the first in the U.S. to feature Courtyard’s new contemporary, progressive design. (See a video tour of the new Courtyard lobby: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mB05QhrG2s.)
Bales joins the new Courtyard with over 20 years of experience in the hotel industry. He most recently served, for nine years, as general manager of the Best Western Hotel & Conference Center here.
Bales is a graduate from Northeast State and Johnson City Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership 2010 program. He currently serves on the Advisory Council for the Johnson City Convention & Visitors Bureau and is a past board member of Communities in Schools. In 2004, he was named one of Johnson City’s “40 under 40” by The Business Journal of Tri-Cities, TN/VA.
Visitors to Bales’ new Courtyard will experience a uniquely re-designed lobby, with separate welcome pedestals replacing the traditional front desk. Flexible seating options will range from a communal table, to more private media booths with high-definition televisions, to a more intimate, semi-enclosed lounge area.
The exclusive Courtyard GoBoard™, a 52-inch LCD touch screen, will offer local information, maps, weather, and news, business and sports headlines, all accessible via touch-screen navigation.
Dining has been completely redesigned, with The Bistro - Eat. Drink. Connect; and The Market™, a 24/7 shop, will provide snacks, beverages and sundries.
Larry Blumberg & Associates, a hotel development and management company based in Dothan, Ala., will manage the hotel.
